Epicurean Culinary Challenge 2012
Assalamualaikum boys and girls,
weehuu, berderet-deret pos cite psl culinary kan? haha, apelah nasib badan. dah nama budak DCA, takkan nak cite psl Electrical Engineering pulak. ye tak? oke, enuf the intro. lets skip straight to the content.
Epicurean Culinary Challenge as yg myra dah describe at the previous post ialah cooking competition yang kali kedua dianjurkan oleh uitm Dungun. sebelum ni competition ni dianjurkan pd tahun 2010 (kitorang x masuk lagi :3 ) kalau dulu pertandingan ni antara student dlm uitm dungun je. yg taun ni dy ad invite kolej swasta and IPTA lain such as PTPL, Giat Mara and IKBN.
and yes, I'm one of the contestant. I was partnered with Syasya Afandi as a team with pur group name THE RED SCARF. why must it be a red scarf? it's because in our faculty each courses are differentiated by our scarf colour. and DCA of course are wearing the red color. particularly, we are proud with that name because only our batch are wearing dark red maroon scarf instead of pale red. that makes us special & different from the other batch ^^ so, after total up, it would be 36 teams that compete on this competition. (ketor lutut mak aihh ).
on that particular competition day, 7th September 2012, we have to sign up as early as 7.30 although our slot was at 10.45. I woke up a bit late, because after had my kitchen commercial class a day before I wasn't go to bed but doing some research with my partner.
after signing up, we got a free gift from the sponsor Maggie which were the aprons and the mushroom chef hat. :)

right after that, about 10.20 we gathered to listen to the judges briefing. aaaand the secret ingredients is walnut and tenderloin. ngeks. mati gua cam ni. kitorang dah plan nak masak chicken breast. since dy bagi secret ingredients kenalah pakai dua2 tu in either appetizer or main course.
sebelum masuk, kitorang dah decide nak buat for Appetizer : Grilled Prawn with Fruit Compote & Avocado Mousse. accompanied with utk secret ingredients, kitorang tabur je chopped walnut kat appetizer punya plate. mmg kelam kabut gila weyhh. but. alhamdulillah. our appetizer berjaya keluar, bg kat judges n for display.
udang tu syasya yg letak. mula-mula tu dah byangkan nak tegakkan udang ni. tapi tak sempat nak betulkan. so biar aje lah mcm tu. ngehehe.
bila masuk main course. baru perasan chicken breast kitorang takde. terpaksa lah substitute dgn beef tenderloin. lari gila dgn ap yg kitorang nak buat. byk benda nak buat kan. sampai tak sempat nak blanch sayur sebelum saute. nak hidang tu pulak pinggan nak kena panas. tak de masa nak lngsung nak panaskan pinggan.
bahan pulak since dah lari gila dgn yg kitorang nk buat, kitorang aci taram je pkai knowledge kitorang acane nak masak an.
dekat 3 kali jugak lah madam mell announce suruh keluarkan main course.
tudiaaa, keluar jugaklah akhirnya
Grilled Honey Beef with Mashed Potato and Rosemary Sauce accompanied with Chef Selected Vege.
alhamdulillah, lega yg teramat masa dah habis tu semua. mmg pressure gila dlm tuh. at least kitorang dah rasa mcm mana pressure dy, dah experience mcm mne org compete dlm kitchen and of course dh nmpak mcm mne flow dy. gua first timer kot. and I dare to take the challenge!
the announcement about siapa yg layak ke final diumukan petang tu. myra tak pegi pun sbb dah pengsan kepenatan atas katil. syasya yg bgtau markah kumpulan kitorng 192. lagi 8 mrkah nak ke final weyhh. haha. but its okay. bg myra, markah tu agak impressive sebab kitorang punya plan larik gila dgn the real situation.
alhamdulillah, batch kitorang ada satu kumpulan masuk final. dat is AJ ( my bestie) and Shikin. I'm so proud with you guys! :')
the next day, all of the contestant are invited to come to Majlis Penutup Program 'Terengganu Hospitality Festival (HosFest 2012) that includes penyampaian anugerah & sijil kpd peserta F&B Challenge and oso ECC 2012.

dan lastly, pemenang2 ECC 2012 diumumkan. Semua tempat pemenang telah dimenangi oleh 3 team part 5 Diploma Culinary Art. walaupun team AJ tak menang, kitorang bangga sebab senior kitorang dah berjaya kalahkan contestant luar dan jugak contestant dari course lain. bangga kut! :)
congrats my senior. surprisingly, yg menang tmpat pertama tu dua2 perempuan. Im so proud of you guys <3 p="p">
